1. Do away with s.th: bỏ cái gì đó đi, không sử dụng cái gì đó

Vd: Computerization has enabled us to do away with a lot of paperwork.

2. Do without s.th: chấp nhận không có cái gì đó

Vd: Surely you can do without television for a week?

3. Dress up: ăn mặc đẹp

Vd: You don’t need to dress up to go to the mall – jeans and a T-shirt are fine.

4. Drop by: ghé qua

Vd: Drop by and pick up that book sometime.

5. Drop s.o off: thả ai xuống xe

Vd: Drop me off over here.

6. End up: có kết cục = wind up

Vd: How did I end up here?

7. Figure out: suy ra

Vd: If they know the cause of the problem, they might be able to figure out how to prevent it happening again.

8. Find out: tìm ra

Vd: How did you find out your girlfriend’s house?

9. Get along/get along with s.o: hợp nhau/hợp với ai

Vd: I don’t really get along with my sister’s husband.

10. Get in: đi vào

Vd: They must have got in through the bathroom window.

11. Get off: xuống xe

Vd: If we can get off by seven o’clock, the roads will be clearer.

12. Get out: cút ra ngoài

Vd: I’ll get out when you stop at the traffic lights.

13. Get rid of s.th: bỏ cái gì đó

Vd: That cream got rid of my skin rash.

14. Give up s.th: từ bỏ cái gì đó

Vd: You don’t have the answer, so do you give it up?

15. Go on: tiếp tục

Vd: If you go on (= continue behaving) like this, you won’t have any friends left at all.

16. Go up: tăng, đi lên

Vd: The average cost of a new house has gone up by five percent to £276,500.
